The First Flight Of Wright Brothers And The Invention Of The Airplane
The first international air meet was held in Reims, France in 1909. In 1911, American Cal Rodgers flew coast to coast in an attempt to win a $50,000 prize. It was offered for the first flight across the United States in thirty days. Unfortunately, it took Rodgers eighty-four days to finish the long, dangerous trip. His Wright plane crashed 19 times.
