The first impression conveyed by the art is a very distracted life of a teenage girl because of smoking. A first-time viewer would likely think that smoking is an unhealthy practice, and they will feel like not smoking or advising their peers not smoke. The readers relate the adverse effects depicted in the art to what they see on smokers they interact within their daily endeavors.
The typography conveys short and direct messages to the target audience. Readers would not spend a lot of time trying to read the words since they are short and to the point (Howells, 2012). The texts that convey crucial information in the art like when one smokes appear in large and contrasting fonts and color. The presentation results into an enhanced readability of the text from far. The contact details appear in smaller fonts and less contrasting color since they are not important (Howells, 2012). The producer of the advertisement, Health Canada, is also not important and therefore presented in the smaller font. The important details meant to capture the readers or observers’ attention appear in the topmost part of the advertisement.
