Analysis of an Advertisement Banner by the Health Canada. The lady’s teeth appear stained and decaying. In general, her life is gradually deteriorating. All these effects are visible to the people she interacts with. The orange color in the art usually has a high visibility. The advertisers chose to use orange to capture the readers’ attention. The orange color also associates with energy, happiness, attraction, and endurance (Howells, 2012). The orange color in the art conveys the message that the youth is an energetic stage of life. The energy goes to waste because of the wrong choices the youth make in their lifetime. The lady’s picture appears on the left since the left side is easy to understand while the new and explanatory information is given to the right.

The first impression conveyed by the art is a very distracted life of a teenage girl because of smoking. A first-time viewer would likely think that smoking is an unhealthy practice, and they will feel like not smoking or advising their peers not smoke. The readers relate the adverse effects depicted in the art to what they see on smokers they interact within their daily endeavors.
The typography conveys short and direct messages to the target audience. Readers would not spend a lot of time trying to read the words since they are short and to the point (Howells, 2012). The texts that convey crucial information in the art like when one smokes appear in large and contrasting fonts and color. The presentation results into an enhanced readability of the text from far. The contact details appear in smaller fonts and less contrasting color since they are not important (Howells, 2012). The producer of the advertisement, Health Canada, is also not important and therefore presented in the smaller font. The important details meant to capture the readers or observers’ attention appear in the topmost part of the advertisement.
In my view, the visual art analyzed above adequately conveys the expected message with the intended magnitude. The advertisement communicates the adverse effects to both the addicted smokers and the non-smokers. Analysis of an Advertisement Banner by the Health Canada.
