As a result, they set the goals under impulse condition and these goals are undoable or unreachable. The perfect example is the student, who takes too many classes and then can’t handle them. Unrealistic goals can spoil the original education plan. I believe that goal setting requires more high-level self-control ability. In the book “the will power instinct” the author Kelly Mcgonigal claims that “[there are] two people living inside our mind. There is version of us that acts on impulse and seeks immediate gratification, and the version of us that controls our impulses and delays gratification to protect our long-term goals”. (17) Self-control became a very important element to help me resist the unrealistic goal setting, when I am making my time management plan. In order to develop a better self-control, I try to employ the meditation method. I call it 10 minute rule, a shorter version of normal mediation.
