As a result, they set the goals under impulse condition and these goals are undoable or unreachable. The perfect example is the student, who takes too many classes and then can’t handle them. Unrealistic goals can spoil the original education plan. I believe that goal setting requires more high-level self-control ability. In the book “the will power instinct” the author Kelly Mcgonigal claims that “[there are] two people living inside our mind. There is version of us that acts on impulse and seeks immediate gratification, and the version of us that controls our impulses and delays gratification to protect our long-term goals”. (17) Self-control became a very important element to help me resist the unrealistic goal setting, when I am making my time management plan. In order to develop a better self-control, I try to employ the meditation method. I call it 10 minute rule, a shorter version of normal mediation. When something happens, I don’t react to it immediately, instead I spend 10-minius to compare its urgency to all other ongoing things. By doing so, I can organize the ongoing and the upcoming tasks better. This will help me produce a much effective time table to follow. Furthermore, this 10 minute set-aside can help me better analyze the matter and prevents me from making a decision in impulse condition. Besides a realistic goal setting, a good time management plan also requires effective developing methods.The good time management plan is also associated with some scientific developing methods. In the book “First thing First” the author Stephen Covey and A. Roger and Rebecca stated that the main thing is “taking responsibility and initiative in order to succeed, deciding what your life is about and prioritizing your life around the most important things” (52). It means that it is very important to prioritize you to-do items while creating your plan. I employ the “4 quadrants method” to prioritize the tasks. As most of the people, I plan every day. Instead of marking down all tasks in a traditional chronological to-do list style, I have a paper that has only two rows and two columns. The combination of the rows and columns produce 4 quadrants/buckets. 1st quadrant lists things, which are urgent and important. 4th quadrant lists things, which are not urgent and not important. Of cause, the 2nd and 3rd quadrants are the things that are urgent but not important or
