Lack of Transparency and Accountability by Nonprofit Human Resources. The disadvantaged communities in a society depend on nonprofits to improve their living conditions (Renz, 2010). As a result, they are affected by any issue that prevents them from receiving their services in an effective manner.The donors are interested in ensuring that their money is used effectively. For example, they expect that most of the money would be used in solving social problems as opposed to rewarding the employees. One of the considerable problems facing the nonprofit sector is the amount of money used on overheads (Gregory & Howard, 2009). A significant overhead costs can be attributed to high staff salaries. In addition, one of the attractive factors that draw people to work in the nonprofit sector is the lucrative salary.

However, the sector should shift its attention. Consequently, the most important attraction should be the opportunity to do good things for the society.The nonprofit sector needs to streamline its operations so that they can reduce their operating costs. In addition, they need to ensure that they do not spend a disproportionate amount of resources on staff allowances. The move would enable them to achieve their mandate.The implication of failing to address the lack of transparency in the nonprofit sector would have dire consequences on the NGOs. The move would make it easy for the government to isolate them. Consequently, it would be complicated for them to raise funds and help the society.The most effective solution for the problem involves adapting a multipronged approach. Firstly, the funders should take a significant interest in the organizations that handle and use their money. Currently, most people give money to nonprofits without expecting anything in return. In contrast, they should demand accountability. For example, they should insist on getting a comprehensive report about the organization structure and history before donating money. The report should provide an analysis of its recruitment practices. Secondly, a singular oversight body that ensures human resource practices are conducted in accordance to the law should govern the nonprofit sector.The nonprofit sector would improve its human resource practices significantly if the donors take a keen interest in their human resource practices (Gregory & Howard, 2009).
