It influences our perception on the artistic masterpiece that Jan van Eyck drew and paints an image of an artist with exceptional abilities. Aditionally, i correlates with the discussions we have had in class on the history of art, abeit Wikipedia delves a little further and is more informative. I provides resources for further information as well. Scondly, Vsual Arts-Cork is an independent website with information on The Portrait of a Man Red Turban by Jan van Eyck.

I contrast to Wikipedia, te website begins by discussing the significance, iterpretation, te oil paint technique and a full description of the painter. Fr instance, i describes Jan van Eyck’s contribution to oil painting by the use of thin layers of transparent color pigments in order to enhance luminosity. Te information influences our perception of Jan van Eyck by depicting him as a meticulous artist who did his paintings with much self-reflection. Te intended audience is an art lover who is interested in about historical paintings.

Tis information correlates with our discussion in class about inspirations of artists and their motivation. Lstly, smilar to Wikipedia and Visual Art-Cork website, te National Gallery website provides information on the history of the painting, ky facts and the artist’s biography. Hwever, te description is from the artist’s point of view. I aims at attracting as well as educating tourists and local people on the rich art of painting. I particular, i the and inscription of the painting to give the audience an artistic impression of how the painting looks like.

Te intended audience is tourists who may have an interest in buying the portrait. Te information correlates with discussions we have had in class in the sense that artistic works can be used as sources of income in museums and art gallery collection centers. Hwever, te website does not provide additional sources of information.
