Lopez artwork evidently demonstrates the aspect of ‘ I lak’ Eh’ o ‘ Yu Are the Other Me’ i that they bring out a sense of community and autonomy. Slf-dependency does not mean individualism or prioritizing self, bt something that is not just intimately our own but that belongs to others as well. Fr Lopez, aChicana, te images represent a journey, rlationship, eperience and prayers through La Virgen de Guadalupe and relates to her appreciating being Chicana from her grandmother and mother. Te focus of this image was to demonstrate Chicana culture but kindle a conversation especially through the theme of immigration evidently presented here.

Te image measuring 14” x19” ws one of Alcaraz’ mst famous and was signed and framed. Te work was done on paper, ad used colours to bring out ruthless manner in which the immigration legislation of the Chicano was handled by depicted politicians. I addition, te image captured the hardships bore by the Chicano people while touching existing issues of reform in immigration, rce, ad gender. Fom the image, gining immigration legislation Chicano was a life and death situation and one had to endure all forms of humiliation from the official and through the Chicano movement, imigration reforms have been achieved.

Te digital image uses satire to drive the message home and to have present day Chicano people appreciate their culture. Fom the two works of art, Ihave come to understand that the theme propagated is that of communicating to those in power that the once deprived rated culture of Chicano has now raised to authority. Frst, Lpez uses Guadalupe powerful icon characterized by serenity, pssiveness and beauty.

Istead of using the Guadalupe’ sactual image, Lpez uses images of her mother and grandmother women that she can identify with and who she values as her role models and deserving respect and love. Fr the immigration officials, Acaraz uses him to demonstrate individualism and lack of respect for differences in a satirical way that current Chicano people can take time to recall and laugh. Rmembering such history is a worthwhile way of bringing attaching value to the current achievements people in culture.

Aditionally, cmparing the benefits that comes from embracing differences makes brings out misuse of authority as passed by time and of no relevance at all. Wile Alcatraz’ iage on “ Sow me your papers” rveals. ..
