Intermediate goal 1: Analysis of June’ s thoughts about her family life in general and her perception of the car accident in particular. • The therapist needs to be aware of June’ s perception of life in general, that is, what it was before the car accident. Starting out from this the therapist will be able to compare changes, which have had a place in the woman’ s cognition after her daughter’ s death, with her way of world perception.

Further, her vision of the car accident presented during several sessions of psychotherapy is able to manifest the reasons for her totally negative perception of Jay. What is more, the tragic event replay alongside with its analysis in the presence of the professional “ … is a primary means of weakening the link between a feared situation and the anxious symptoms it triggers” . All in all, repeated consideration of the woman’ s problem and its main reason is contributive for improvement of her mental state because by of speaking about her tragedy she does not only liberate her inner experiences but also frees her mind from emotions prevented her from impartial analysis of the situation. Intermediate goal 2: Representation of Jay’ s vision of the drama by himself in June’ s presence and analysis of her response to Jay’ s words. • The therapist’ s professional guiding of June’ s insight into her husband’ s vision of the situation is beneficial for her awareness of the other version of the tragedy.

In fact, her response to Jay’ s words is able to add to a understanding of the problem’ s root, which has resulted in June’ s blaming her husband for the death of their daughter.

One way or another, precise understanding of a problem through the representation of all participants’ perception of the situation is considered to be a great contribution to overcoming of negative mental states
