Comparison and Differences between Date Positivism and Post-Positivism Concepts. In the light of this perspective, structural approach to social work aims at maintaining the social prestige with little if any interference with the social structures and the related stability (Turner, 2012).The conflict perspective, on the other hand, is based on the concept of power and inequality in the society. As a result, the cohesion that exists in a society is unhealthy and not supposed to be maintained. The perspective regards status quo as wrong. It focuses on the ever-changing nature of the society and encourages all the efforts to bring about social change. The conflict theory therefore focuses on the negative aspects of the society that disturbs its stability as opposed to the order theory which focuses on the need for the society to maintain order and the original cohesion with little outside interference.

Structural social work in this perspective deals with ensuring the social change expected of a society is effected without negatively affecting the prestige of the society (Turner, 2012).Social change arises from the internal or external environment. From the internal environment, practices that used to be upheld by a particular community tend to be questioned over time and shed off in the process. From the external environment, new behaviors are adopted as a result of interactions between the society and its neighbors. In a research conducted in 1992 revealed that marital violence and the theories associated have not had a comprehensive explanation of marital assaults among partners? The research focused on a national survey on the causes of violence among heterosexual partners. From the findings of this research, it is clear that increased level of privacy, inequality and social legitimization of violence against women are associated with reduced perceived arrest costs. As such, the three factors are major deterrence of assault between partners.The research found out that more than 57% of domestic violence and conflicts go unreported especially in societies that have a high level of gender imbalance and inequality. As such, the high level of privacy in most society deters social change. This in turn makes the society uphold and keep practices that in the real; sense should be shed and are discriminating (Williams, 1992).
