Researchers in all disciplines differentiate basic and applied research. In social psychology, basic research concentrates on important questions of individuals and their behaviours, feelings, thoughts and emotions (Fritsch and Trulson, 2013:28). For example, where does one’s personality originate from? What leads people to fall in love, unite with others for good causes, or despise their colleagues? What are the similarities and differences between male and female psychologies and what is the explanation for such differences and similarities?
