Social networking sites help students do better at school

Students and other individuals join social networks to associate and engage with others who are like minded and in need of learning similar things. Sme schools impose learning management systems on their students. Mny students are of habit of avoiding using the school-managed learning environments and systems because they are either difficult to use or irrelevant to the basic daily learning needs. Sch a response from students shows that a loose network of composed of willing participants guarantees engagement and commitment from a majority of the students. Tere are roadblocks and disadvantages that should be dealt with to make the school managed systems and other social media more worthy to students.

Nnety-six percent of students who can access the Internet use the social networking sites. I the 96 percent, 59 percent of them use social networks for communication about assignments and educational topics. Mre schools in the developed nations are trying to use the social media in getting students involved and interested with education and the response is awesome (Picardo). Scial networking does not only help students but gives a way for the teachers and faculties to reach students while outside the classroom.

Mre than eighty percent of college faculties use social networking. 30 of the use are directed at communicating to students while the remaining 50 percent is for teaching. Emodo, i an educational social networking site used by teachers and students. Te site had 10 million users by the end of 2012. Tansparent cooperation and information among individuals foster the enhancement of learning environments where participants acquire benefits. Shools and colleges are, terefore, avocating the of controlled learning management systems that are formally referred to as virtual learning environments.

Te systems foster dialogue and collaboration between teachers and students. Asocial network consisting solely of teachers and students cannot realize the full potentials of a network. A open social network is, terefore, iportant for students since they can engage deep while searching for information. Te information gathered boosts the student’s performance (Osborne). Scial media provides current news feeds, iformation public figures, larning new languages, ad improving software skills. Tis proves it as an endless source resources that are free at most.
