The following are the major causes of immigrant problems in southern California. The first cause is lack of education among these peasant workers. Many of them have either never stepped into a classroom or are equipped with elementary education only. This exposes them to rogue individuals who easily take advantage of them. Lack of basic education has dire repercussions on these individuals. One of the worst effects of illiteracy is that it has bound them to bad contracts that are enriching farm owners while plunging immigrants into severe debt.
