He suggested that bodies do not exist, ad if they exist, oly one body existed, nt separated by anything nor vacuum. In Descartes study on the nature of bodies, h concluded that the real nature of bodies can only be determined via intellect and not by sense perception neither by imagination. Cntrary to his initial perception that he himself was a thinking object without a body, Dscartes observed that physical objects existed and can be determined via rational intuition. Ot of the five senses, nne can detect of bodies.

Descartes proved this point by using the wax example. H intuited that wax is a physical substance. In its first appearance, wx has a scent; i has a visible shape, cn be touched and even produces some sound when tapped. With the human imagination, ten this object, nted by the various senses is wax. Uon heating the wax, i melts, te scent disappears, i becomes shapeless and can even be mounted into any shape, and it cannot be touch in sanity. Bt is it not wax?

everything that was used to identify the wax has changed, bt no one disagrees that the new feature formed is not wax. Therefore, Dscartes concluded that ‘the wax’ is an extended stuff and not the physically visible object. Te mind determines what wax, o any other object, i, wthout consulting any of the five senses or even imagination. Acording to John Locke, inate principles do not exist, bt ideas are triggered by past experience. Fctually, cildren are born with a blank mind, ad as they grow they can remember they experienced.

Locke claimed that, eistence of innate ideas should be backed up by universally agreed principles. The latte does not exist, a matter of fact the basic idea that ‘what is cannot be what it is not’ is objected by idiots. Secondly, Lcke agreed with the nativist that, the mind has native capacity to entertain certain ideas. Hwever, Locke claimed that this innate capacity does not constitute an innate principle and deemed the nativists doctrine baseless. T Locke, innate capacity can be triggered experience or a situation, jst as the nativist claimed and thus different situations will make individuals reason differently.

I a nutshell, Lcke claimed that, inate principles are extinct, tere exists innate capacity but ideas can only be grasped from experience at the time when the mind knows what do with the ideas. ..
