Industrial Crane Accidents. The lucky occurrence was that only one injured person was rushed to the hospital although property damage was huge. The site was horrific making the psychological effects more pronounced than material to the victims and witnesses.

Crane accidents are worst in the event when the whole crane collapses. It is important to note that many constructions are in residential areas or relatively highly populated areas. Passersby usually fall victims to these accidents more so on the streets as high-rise buildings are being build higher and higher nowadays.Failure to follow these regulations was blamed for the aforementioned Manhattan crane accident of 2007 where a sling snapped dropping a 14000 lbs load. This particular accident triggered a set of special regulations in New York City. City inspectors from then on are required to avail themselves each time a crane is to perform major maneuvers. Here the alignment of loading port was wrongly aligned at 5 o’clock position instead of the manufacturer’s recommended 3 or 9 o’clock positions (J. This mistake caused huge stress as the crane continued to operate causing the bearing to ultimately fracture. The overall results of this particular investigation stated that operator mistake, poor maintenance and improper placement of the said port were the causes of the turntable bearing failure. Jumping in particular requires intense preparation and briefings for every worker to understand the process and their responsibilities clearly. A comprehensive report needs also to be compiled after these significant maneuvers.The above accidents are some of the worst to happen in the recent past with immense damage taking place. These.
