Moreover, avances in medical technology have contributed to the survival rates of infants and premature babies. I the past century, pemature babies did not have any chance of survival. Hwever with the development of incubators and intensive care units, ifants cannot only survive the lack of proper function due to their young age, bt also grow into normal babies, wthout any crippling functional disability. Rspiratory Distress Syndrome, acondition where premature babies do not have proper breathing function due to the lack of production of adequate amounts of surfactant lungs.

I this case, etracorporeal membrane oxygenation is administered to the baby, wich uses an apparatus that resembles the lungs in their respiratory function. Amiracle made possible by medical technology was that a baby aged 21 weeks and six days only and weighing a mere 10 ounces was the youngest baby in the world to survive (Sneddon, 2008). Tis cannot be achieved without medical technology. Tchnology has not only aided human beings in having a longer life and in providing quick relief from their medical condition but also has advances in medical research.

Pblic health genetics has made use of genetic technology to prevent diseases and to harness in the cause of promotion of health (Stewart, Bice & Burton, 2007). Gnetics deals with the study of the genes and how characteristics are passed from a parent to his offspring. Mdical technology has helped to discover the molecular mechanisms that are associated with genetic disorders and to alter specific portions to repair defects (LeVine, 2006). Rplication of DNA, tanslation and protein formation as well as the expression of and complex biochemical processes that are regulating it, ae all better understood in today’s world than they were a few decades ago.

Dseases like cystic fibrosis are now better treated than ever. PD allows for the timely detection of genetic defects that are the reason for inherited disease in human embryo before they are implanted, lading to healthy pregnancies (Panicola, 2007). Hwever with the new horizons that medical technology has tapped, tere is also an emergence of many controversies. Gnetic engineering has also made it possible to manipulate to produce desired effects.

Hwever this can have adverse side effects on human beings at times. Rsearch. ..
