Morphemes determine words and words are the backbone of any sentence. Morphology in the English language influences the meaning of words according to how they are expressed. Tere are two types of morphemes, fee and bound. Fee morphemes can occur alone, sch as, te word bad, hwever bound occur together, sch as, ‘y’. Te bound morphemes are sometimes called affixes. Tey are bound because their meaning will only be understood if it does not stand alone, fr example, bdly. Tese include prefixes, sffixes, ifixes and circumfixes. Aprefix is added the beginning of a word, asuffix at the end, a infix is inserted into other morphemes and circumfix are attached to another morpheme.

Te use of a prefix or a suffix is part of the word morphology. Fr instance, te use of the prefixes un- indicates negativity. Such as in the word unavoidable, te recipient will already process the speaker means not avoidable. Aso, te use of -ify in a word like iconify illustrates to make something into. This may influence the meaning of a sentence2. Crtain morphemes indicate purality and meaning.

Te word cats’ implies that the speaker means more than one cat. This indicates plurality and the recipient already infers the speaker means more than one cat. Lxicon is certain words or specific phrases that are present in the mind of the speaker. Tese include phrases such as idioms. The use of lexicon allows was a speaker to construct and convey a sentence with its appropriate meaning. Lxical words are new words, sch as, nuns, vrbs, ajectives and adverbs that illustrate content. Aother type of word functional or grammatical words that are closed meaning the speaker cannot add onto them like vocabulary.

Tese words include conjunctions, pepositions, aticles and pronouns. Tey are words that are necessary to understanding the meaning of a sentence. Sntax is the way in which words are combined into sentences and the grammatical rules used. Te different combination of words may have different meanings. This introduces the concept of ambiguity. Sentence construction has a direct influence on sentence meaning and is elaborated under semantics. Ponology is the study of phonemes. The i which sentences have their meaning conveyed partly in how they are spoken, tis is the phonetics.
