The dimensional variation of hole location in door panels have been reduced with laser welding of blanks from +/- 0.5 to +/-0. Spot welding or seam welding may be used but for a tailored blank, the laser welding blanks are used since they provide three advantages including; However, there is a greater demand of strict control of the butt-joint pressure, the edge quality, and other parameters of laser welding that includes; welding speed, power, beam alignment, assist gas flow, and depth of focus.A form of resistance welding where there is a slight overlap of blank segments is referred to as mash seam welding. This is driven between two electrode wheels while under pressure and the welding is done by aid of electric current. This described method is another way of preparing a tailored blank. The plannishing wheels usually come after the electrodes t cold work the welded joints to below 10% over the initial thickness since the overlapping blank segments may end up varying in thickness. The longish panels require mash seam. For instance; the L-section members that comprise of front chassis rails are constructed from mash seam at Volkswagen. Three pieces of different thickness occur for the blank of one member, while the blank of the other members four. This particular process upgraded crash rating and was deserving of reduction in insurance premium. The deep drawn panels apply double action press as the initial operation in a line. There exist two slides inclusive of; the inner punch and the outer for blank holder by ensuring accurate pressing by moving along the panels installed on uprights. Better productivity is guaranteed by the quick approach – quick return motion curve of the outer slide. The blank is clamped by the blank holder between the hold down unit and the draw ring and this becomes decisive for the draw’s quality. Wrinkles will develop in the flange of the drawn parts of the blank in case the hold down force is too low. On the other hand, if the hold down force is excessive, there is less sufficient yield of the metal according to the tears and frictional force. The material’s local behaviour is dependent on the optimum hold down force and the various draw conditions in different portion of a complicated panel result in variations in the hold-down pressure along the part’s contour. The variation between the least and the greatest permissible
