I was nervous initially because I felt that I was not fully prepared for the community, bt I soon felt at ease because of my engaging professor and classmates. Ientered the discourse community with rudimentary accounting knowledge and fearful of my ineptitude in more formal accounting practices. Ithought that I must be the odd one out for being not completely Accounting-competent. Isat with my classmate, Rsie, wo said she was nervous because it was her first accounting class. Se revealed that, lke me, hr only accounting practice was family’s restaurant business.

Irealized then that I was not alone. A the same time, Rsie showed her dedication to Accounting. Se said, “ell, w will learn everything soon enough. ”When my professor came, h was confident and conversational in his teaching approach. H discussed the basic concepts of accounting using relevant examples to college students and small businesses. H kept his teaching fresh by injecting humor and personal stories of his accounting experiences. Lstening to him, Iremember my mother who taught me basic accounting. Se too has an easy way, a if she is teaching something significantly important, bt easy to understand.

I this community, Islowly lost my apprehensions about myself and felt that I was prepared to learn and to develop as an Accounting student. Te discourse community of Accounting might seemed intimidating in the beginning. Hwever, uon making friends and meeting a brilliant professor, Ifelt comfortable with my abilities and future capabilities. Ibecame more open to the idea of learning and to not be afraid of taking risks and learning beyond what is taught inside corners.

uncle learned about my embarrassing reading experience from my mother. H was my sponsor to the world of poetry, bing a poet and editor himself. H must have felt that it was his responsibility to taking me back to poetry reading and he did this through bringing me to poetry reading events and reading poetry together. A first, Iwas angry with mother for telling my uncle about my upsetting reading experience, bt I realized, i was her way of helping me. M uncle brought me to different reading events are usually part of cultural celebrations.

A a result, Ibecame exposed to different cultural readings, sch as poetry reading from Islamic, Cristian, ad Buddhist religions, a well as ethnic readings. ..
