Taj Mahal in Agra depicts religious syncretism and is famous for its beautiful architecture enhanced by white marbles, sphisticated carvings and minarets. Tese styles that were encouraged during the medieval period were neither purely Islamic nor Indian; istead, tese were a fusion of the two religions and their traditions. Ging back into history, Otomans inculcated Byzantine architectural features into Islamic architecture when they took the city from Byzantines and transformed the cathedral into a mosque. Te element that they borrowed from the Byzantine architecture was the domes that the symbol for mosques.

Oher elements borrowed from Byzantine included round arches and vaults. Ilamic architecture has also borrowed major elements from the Persian architecture which caused Baghdad to depict Persian style construction of Firozabad. I is also said that Persian architects were hired to construct the buildings in Baghdad. Ilamic architects also borrowed elements like arches supported by pillars, bick pillars, ad arcades, wich were big possessions of the Persian architecture. Ifluences from Western construction were also heavily depicted in Islamic architecture through the use of cement, gass in construction and decoration.

Wth the advent of Islam into the subcontinent, mny elements from Indian architecture were borrowed and applied in the Islamic architecture. Tus, Ilamic architecture majorly borrows elements from the Indian culture. Mny new topographies and features were introduced into the Islamic architecture during the Mughal reign. Mghals constructed mosques, musoleums, mnarets, frts, tmbs and palaces, ad the construction clearly shows the fusion of the two traditions. Ilamic architecture also possesses some distinctive elements that have not been borrowed by any tradition but have inspired civilizations borrow them.

Ilam has not only focused on mere construction but has emphasized upon the ornamentation and decoration of the buildings. Ilamic architecture has always used repetition of patterns, sining materials, gazes, cntrasting colors and textures, clligraphy, gometry, ad management of planes (Lu & Steinhardt).
