I interviewed Mr Yang 23 April 2014 on Skype for half an hour, between 1:00pm and 1:30 PM. It was a challenge to fix this interview due to his tight schedule. After requesting his audience over the phone, he fixed my interview during the lunch time when he felt was more convenient for his tight program.This interview was very informative in terms on work place communication. As Mr Yang noted, communication is key in the contemporary work place environment. I learnt that communication between the management, the customers and the employees is key for the profitability of the business. Therefore, it is crucial that every organization has their own communication strategy that should be taught to the employees and applied within the entire organization. An efficient communication will ensure efficient communication of business strategies and a warm relationship between all stakeholders. The managers are responsible for communication.An interesting fact I learnt in this interview is that communication is driven by understanding and respect. One has to understand the person well to communicate efficiently with them because personal and cultural attitudes affect the way people communicate. The communication may vary between persons due to their authorities and their relationship with the speaker. For instance, a manager will speak differently when speaking with the customers as compared to when speaking to their subordinates. However, there has to be respect and use of proper word choice for efficient communication. Emotional intelligence helps to handle different emotional reactions within public such as aggressiveness and anger.Also, the respondent, Mr Yang, was informative in terms of considering different methods of communication. He pointed out that the efficiency of the communication channel depends on the situation, space and time factors. Technologies such as Skype seem to be more superior for organization as they are not limited by time and space. Thus it is worthy to make a wise choice of the communication channel. His last advice was that aspiring managers develop experience with different modes of communication to fit in their future roles comfortably.Apart from work place communication, I learnt that the management profession is a busy field and one is faced with the challenge of achieving work-life balance. Mr Yang advised that one has to “do the right thing at the right time.” This
