The French love drinking wines and champagne and many women even tend to smoke, considered as a normal aspect of life, especially after a meal. Many dining etiquettes are followed while having meals outside, including not placing one’ s elbows on the table or leaving the wine glass nearly full in case one does not wish to drink more. The French are extremely well known for their high sense of fashion and are very conscious about the way that they dress. Most people spend a lot of money clothes for fear of being frowned upon for not dressing up to the standards of elegance and class.

France has produced some of the world’ s most sought after designers, for example, Coco Chanel, and the clothing designs and ideas are circulating world over, being worn by many celebrities. French cinema developed during the avant-garde era with directors like Jean Luc Godard taking the reigns of cinema. Additionally, most people enjoy an evening out to the movies and some famous artists currently in Hollywood from France are Marion Cotillard, Guillaume and Vincent Cassel.

Sports and hobbies that people often occupy themselves with include fishing, playing golf, horse riding and cycling, and they also love watching sports like the Tour de France. Other sports include parkouring, skiing, fencing and kite surfing. (Nickles, Greg) Art and museums form a very important aspect of    France with a number of galleries dedicated to classic painters from the Baroque to the Neoclassical styles of painting. Monet, Renoir, Picasso etc are all famous painters and who can forget one of the most renowned museums, Louvre in Paris.

Many artists from all over the world have come together in France to make music that includes genres from folk to rock. French literature, graphic novels, and comics are all part of the books that people love to read. The country is also well known for creating some of the best newspapers and TV channels world over. The French observe a number of holidays including Bastille Day on 14th July, Labor Day on 1st May, All Souls Day on 2nd November, etc. The French are to almost five weeks of paid holidays.
