The reverse is true for the Southern Hemisphere when it is tipped towards the Sun in December and when it is tipped away from the Sun in June [1].Due to the different positions of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun, there are solstices and equinoxes to help mark the changing seasons. The summer solstice usually occurs around June 21, and is the time when the Northern hemisphere is tipped most directly facing the sun and where the Earth would receive the most sunlight. As the Northern hemisphere moves away from the Sun, the fall equinox occurs on around September 22, and this is the time when the Northern hemisphere is beginning to experience coldness. By December 21, the winter solstice will be happening. This is the time when the Northern Hemisphere receives the least direct sunlight. This is then followed by the spring or vernal equinox three months later on March 21 when the Northern Hemisphere begins to be slightly tipped towards the Sun again, which means that the coldness is disappearing and the hot weather is approaching again [1].The tilting of the Earth’s axis would not be enough reason for the seasons. The seasons occur mainly also because of the revolution of the Earth around the Sun. The angle of the sunlight that reaches the Earth gradually changes as the Earth orbits the sun. In fact, due to the revolution of the Earth, both hemispheres are equally illuminated during the equinoxes in March and September, thus making it spring in the hemisphere that is undergoing transition from winter to summer, and autumn or fall for the hemisphere that is changing from summer to winter. Nevertheless, despite the revolution of the earth around the sun as a cause of the seasons, it remains a fact that if the Earth did not have a tilt in its axis, there would be no seasons [2].The location of people anywhere on Earth may also define the variations in the seasons that occur in these particular places. For example, in the Southern Hemisphere, the season that occurs is the opposite of the one happening in the Northern Hemisphere. Thus, while the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing the winter solstice, it is the summer solstice or a period of heat and warmth that is occurring in the Southern Hemisphere. It goes the same with the equinoxes [1].Moreover, if one lives near the equator, especially in the tropics of Capricorn and Cancer, one does not experience the four
