In that sense, this piece of creative writing is very masterly and mature.Considering the visible affiliation of this piece to the thriller genre, the writer has to a great extent succeeded in exploiting the so essential elements of suspense, surprise and violence, which are the standard and inevitable trademarks of this discipline. The characterization is effective and apt. The writer has successfully managed to lead the dialogue from an initial simplicity to a progressing complexity and tension. The settings portrayed by the writer are true to life and aid and bolster the scope of main characters. The usage of first person point of view is very suitable and precise, particularly in its posthumous sense of morbidity, which the readers come across in the end. The spookiness and apprehension associated with the involved power struggle is quiet successful and gripping. The plot is terse and ordered. However, the climax is very weak and unimpressive in the sense that it is very predictable and utterly plausible. The overall usage of the scenes loaded with murder and gore is certainly effective.This piece of creative writing would have immensely benefitted by making more sincere affiliations with the Stream of Consciousness genre. Also, the exploitation of an omniscient point of view would have conclusively added to its appeal and success. The plot is too bland and unappealingly straightforward. Instead, the selection of a somewhat loose and scattered plot would have made this piece more interesting and attention grabbing. The dialogue is symbolical and psychological, but fails to add anything substantial to the meaning and depth of the narrative. The symbolism exploited by the writer, continues to remain superficial, without penetrating deep into the intentions and motivations of the central characters.This is an admirably interesting and successful piece of creative writing. The plot has the essential unity of action in the sense that it is very ordered and succeeds in achieving the intended effect. The characterization is effective and detailed. The two characters act as a foil to each other, being almost opposite in their physicality and other aspects. This approach definitely adds to the readers understanding of the temperament of the two characters. The exploitation of the elements of suspense and surprise smack of daft craftsmanship.
