The white-America population stereotypes her as funny due to her university course, Eglish major (Spack 49). Idividuals of Asian descent, acording to the white-America stereotype, pefer mathematics and sciences. T prove the stereotype wrong, Tn conducts research and finds out that the stereotype is indeed true; mjority of Asian-Americans excel in Mathematics and Sciences. Frthermore, hr teachers pushed her to pursue a career in the aforementioned academic areas (Spack 49). Hr former boss, aso, tlls her to stop pursuing writing because she was not a good writer and on a career in account management.

Tis cultural clash greatly affects her judgment, bth directly and indirectly; ifluencing her hobbies, iterests and aspirations (Spack 50). Te essay illustrates the power that language has on the lives of individuals. Te true aim of language, acording to the majority of people, i to bring individuals closer together but this is not usually the case. Tese individuals do not realize that people who speak “broken” English are aware of the prejudice they face. Oher than these ignorant individuals, imigrant people also identify with the story.
