I think a happy transgender child has to express his or her desired sexual identity immediately or not long after discovering it. This is because transgender grownups keep on confronting challenges today due to society’s lack of awareness or acceptance of uncommon forms of sexual identity. To achieve this feat, transgender children, along with their parents, need assistance from society, legislators, and heads of schools to make sure faculty and teaching staff accept their true identities within and outside the classroom (Genderkinderen). This form of support should slowly spread to classmates and other peers and ultimately make transgender children as normal as other children. Tanis’ chapter “Gender Variance and Scripture” examines verses in the Hebrew and Christian books that one can use to answer the question of gender modification (Tanis 57). For instance, the chapter explores passages in Genesis, Deuteronomy, and Isaiah. I think it was very thoughtful of Tanis to reveal the significance of the Bible in which its books and scriptures talk about the experiences of gender-different individuals. The chapter persuaded me to concur with the concrete argument about the legitimacy of gender- different individuals in churches and the community. Tanis’ narration of his journey as well as those of other gender-different people helped in pitching concrete scriptural proof (61). Individuals who are struggling with gender identity or at least attempting to grasp the different gender of a relative or peer can read this chapter and get all sought solutions.
