It urges schools to start concentrating on the basics again. Shools should focus on achieving high standards of academic work and a strong core curriculum. Sudents should acquire knowledge of basic skills that are essential in obtaining essential knowledge (Taneja, 2005, pPerennialism puts the focus on the universal truths that have existed for a long time. I urges learners to read Great Books that will assist them in understanding important philosophical concepts that underlie the knowledge of human beings. Scial reconstructionists detached from progressivism because they demand immediate attention ills existing in the society.

Tey have an interest in combining the belief that education goes in line with ameliorating social problems with social action and study. Acording to philosophy of education, ech teacher has beliefs about the process, ieals, nture and purpose of education. Tis is what influences how and what students are taught. Pilosophy of education provides answers to questions about a teacher’s role, te purpose of schooling and the things that should be taught. I also gives the methods to be followed in the teaching of education that are teacher-centered are conservative and authoritarian.

Tey give emphasis on the knowledge and values that have been in existence for years. Mjor philosophies of education that are student-centered are perennialism and essentialism. Pilosophies of education that are student centered majorly focus on the requirements of an individual and the contemporary relevance. Tey usually prepare students to face the upcoming changing future. Sudent- centered philosophies view school as an institution that gives the youth the power and ability to improve the society. Te school also helps in their individuality.

Larners are placed at the core of the educational process by existentialism, scial reconstructionism and progressivism (Taneja, 2005, p Teachers and students work in collaboration to determine ideas that should be learned and how best to learn them. Cnstructivist is a learning theory stating that human beings construct their individual understanding and knowledge of the universe trough their experiences and reflections on those experiences. I further explains that learning is an active process and that knowledge is shaped by personal experience. ...
