One goal of is achieve the protection of, at least, 10% of the world’s oceans by 2020; their goal seems promising (Palmquist, 2013). Another endeavor involves the preservation and conservation of the ocean’s coral reefs. Coral is considered the “rain forest” of the sea. Many researchers and experts feel that saving and maintaining the natural coral reefs will be one of the most important things we can do to guarantee continuation of biodiversity within this ecosystem. Not to mention that it would be an opportunity for humanity to acknowledge their responsibility in the damage caused to these environments (Marine Conservation Institute, 2014). In order to achieve, or even attempt, these efforts, international and national involvement are necessary and, presently, appear to be going well.Coral may the rain forest of the sea, but the actual rain forests are one of the oldest ecosystems and one of the most essential. Rainforests provide the habitats for an innumerable species of insects, plants and animals. Like the ocean, much is still not known about all that lives within the tropical forest around the world. The destruction could have unknown consequences (Rainforest Alliance, 2014).There are species of plants that could have immense healing properties for humanity and we will never know it ever existed and the species of animals that could be completely unknown; they will slip away as if they never were as man bulldozes and flattens these amazing giant forests. Again, this is why it was chosen for this assignment. It is bad enough humanity is damaging, but damaging of life forms that may be driven to extinction before we ever knew they existed is unspeakable. This would be a horrible loss. A number of conservation goals are intended to make positive impacts in the rain forest ecosystem. First, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has established the, The Tropical Forest Action Plan (TFAP), who want to fund worldwide studies to delve deeper into the greater impacts caused by dwindling rain forest and how the need for conservation will benefit man in the long run. One such effort includes a “Species Action Plan,” which will work to determine the impacts on wildlife and create protections appropriate to the needs of that species (Coral Cay, 2014). This may help to reduce the likelihood of extinction. Another active goal involves an endeavor in
