Usually this is the case when the soil is above the water table, wich gives it room to dry and allow for biodegradation. Tis uneven movement of the building causes particles to disintegrate hence the walls crack and form crevices. Erthquakes and tremors are the major causes of cracking. Oe way of combating subsidence and hence cracking is careful construction of houses by isolating them from trees, mnes and unstable ground to reduce risk of such uneven forces. Mreover, te construction engineers need to put a more robust foundation material that balances the area and goes some feet below such that it behaves as one rigid rock in the soil to reduce the impact of subsidence on the building.

Dmping usually is caused by moisture moving up the walls through the permeable building materials through the action of capillary force. Tis poses a danger to the building once the water penetrates into materials or finishes done in occupied construction rooms. Te danger this moisture poses to the walls is that it dissolves some of the salts found in construction materials such as the calcium sulphate.

Wth varying temperatures, te moisture evaporates leaving behind salts that cause expansion hence forcing the materials apart. Dssolving these salts again by repeated moisture absorption leads to crevice, wich develops, wth time into large cracks thus spalling off the materials. Tis is very evident in masonry or porous brickwork. Tis moisture often originates from the ground in most cases due to a combination of events such as the rising ground water table, filed drainage. It can also come from poor plumbing units inefficient drainage systems that cause flooding.

Oher potential problems that may arise due to damping include growing of decayed organisms such as moulds or rotting of materials that are biodegradable. Rtting makes the materials weak hence is a potential course of collapsing of sections of the building. Rtting goes hand in hand with the level of moisture the materials are exposed to. Mre damping means the chances for any biodegradable materials to rot are very high. Dmping can be controlled by observing some fundamental construction designs. Misture sinks can constructed strategically to dissipate the moisture from the source before it causes problems to the materials such as using chimneys and open pipes.

Aother viable solution is to construct the materials using damp...
