Today, rflecting on the event makes me understand that a nurse has to overcome all anxieties and fears because a patients life might be at risk. Tere is hardly anything about this demonstration that I regret. Eerything went according to the plan. Ateam of three nurses worked together to save a patients life in a simulation demonstration. W received positive feedback from the instructor. Acording to the instructor we acted independently and showed responsibility to our task. Cmmitment to job and autonomy are considered primary traits for the nursing (Oweis, 2005).

M initial hesitation to engage with my team was the only negative about the experience. Tis makes me score a little lower on the leadership role of ‘clarity of objective’. M hesitation put me into two minds; adirect violation of the nursing leadership code. Itrusted and respected my team and expected the same from them. I my opinion the whole team scored really well on the ‘trust’ card. Bt when it comes to the ‘power of leadership’ there is always a question of balancing power with responsibility.

the lead does not mean stepping over toes. Ladership requires task delegation responsibly. Een though the whole demonstration and instruction went really well but there were certain weak points in our practice. Wen the instructor let us demonstrate how to engage with the patient all three of us rushed towards the patient and thinking that patients condition would definitely require ‘code blue’. W were rushing the procedure of checking the patients pulse and his breathing status. Ineed to take this matter into consideration because the patient safety model indicates adverse events should be reported, mnaged and responded to.

Aalyzing the demonstration revealed that the teamwork climate is affected by factors like; eperience, fmiliarity, te beliefs about profession and perceptions about organization. Aparently none of us had the experience of dealing with such a situation before. Bt the professional duties and the perceptions of the workplace compelled us to perform the tasks diligently. I the end patient safety depend on effective teamwork. I the team performs as a unit then there is hardly any difficulty in a nursing procedure.
