The Dialogues of Plato. Kind of governance where a philosopher king is the central figure of the state, and thus, he is the one who must rule the republic based on reason and wisdom. Also, he further stated that the aristocracy would decline to a timocracy over time, which would further deteriorate first into an oligarchy and then to a democracy and finally to tyranny (Plato & Benjamin 66-68). Thus, in his view, democracy isn`t quite a well suited form of governance since only the wise king should be attributed to decision making. Though this idea may have been suited at that time, yet Plato`s vision should have been long-sighted to foresee how democracy is the only form of governance which can lead a state into the right direction.

This idea can be deemed as a negative one owing to the fact that Plato was rigid in this idea where all other forms of governance were rather unacceptable and imperfect to him. This is a huge limitation to his theory which was later perfected by other modern philosophers.Had Plato been alive to see the chaos in the world today, he would have been attributed the entire basis of chaos to the lack of education and wisdom. Plato would definitely have an issue with the way the political institutions have emerged today and how the institutions are formed. Nowadays, where the iron triangle is at play where military and economics has an equal share of responsibility in the management of the affairs of the state to that of the political machinery. This intermingling, according to Plato, is what has led the world to take such wrong decisions that the distinction between moral and immoral has deteriorated. He would have encouraged and lobbied for a kind of republic where all institutions should come under the political machinery and taken over their own responsibilities rather than mingling with the political affairs. Thus, he would have advocated stronger political institutions free of intervention from those not wise enough to handle these affairs.Thus, conclusively Plato is a Greek Philosopher who belonged to a wealthy family and thus received education in Philosophy, music and other disciplines. He gave many intriguing ideas in philosophy, based on what he was taught by Socrates. However, his most intriguing theory is that where he advocates for a philosopher king to handle the affairs of the state, though the theory has its own limitations.
