It is evidently clear from the discussion that the growing diversity of the workforce demands that HR recruiters work or supervise people with various cultural, backgrounds, levels of education, and experience. Thus the educational background of HR recruiters varies considerably depending on the diversity of duties and levels of responsibility. For entry-level positions, the degree in human resources, human resource administration, or industrial and labor relations is an asset. Some employers may look for college graduates with technical or business background or liberal art education. For those seeking general top management positions, an advanced degree is important.

A master’ s degree in human resources or labor relations or business administration with the concentration in human resources management is highly recommended. A Ph. D. is an asset for those planning to go into teaching, writing or consulting. Previous experience is required for those aspiring for advanced positions but internship or work-study experience is adequate for entry-level positions. Certification by a professional body is also an added advantage. For those who plan to work in the State of California and are unfamiliar California’ s labor and human resource laws, the California Certification in Human Resources may be required.   The HR recruiter career demands a range of personal qualities and skills.

HR recruiters must write and speak effectively, listen actively, as well as possess excellent computer skills, teaching, and supervising skills. The employment prospect for HR recruiter is expected to grow faster than the average for most occupation. Overall, employment of HR recruiter is projected to grow by 18% between 2006 and 2016. Increasing pressure to recruit and retain quality employees should create job openings for HR recruiters.

College graduates with a bachelor degree in human resources, human resources administration or industrial and labor relations that have earned certification should be in demand.
