Thus, it is quite likely that some of the variations in responses could be due to natural fluctuation and may not be true chances in trends at all.In some parts of the report, only a part of the trends observed have been used to define the nature of changes. Although the report claims to be studying changes as they occur from 1999 till 2002, when discussing some of the fear of threats and the extent of business plans the reported changes only apply to changes from 2001 to 2002. If the data is carefully observed, the percentages for 1999 and 2002 are quite similar for many categories with a fluctuation in 2001. This may be considered an important misrepresentation of facts (Downing and Clark, 2010). This fact is not mentioned anywhere, and the verbal report is written as if there is a linear change from 1999 till 2002.While some of the categories in which the responses were invited allowed the respondent to choose more than one response, some seem to have required the respondent to choose only one of the possible responses. For some such questions, all responses are not accounted for. For example, the percentages for the frequency with which BHP is rehearsed and the attitudes towards regulation do not total to 100%. It is possible that a few participants may have withheld from responding, but this is not mentioned in the report (Levine, Krehbiel, Berenson and Viswanathan, 2008). Although a small percentage in either case, these omissions can affect the integrity of the report (Downing and Clark, 2010).For some questions, only partial data was communicated to the reader. One example is the review of how the responsibility for BCM was viewed by the respondents. Only the data about two categories was mentioned although there was a fall in the percentages of respondents selecting each of those categories in the most recent survey. In order to understand the changes in the trends adequately, it is necessary to examine which categories saw a rise in responses even if these still form a minority (Howitt and Cramer, 2008). Such data would be helpful in predicting future trends with more confidence.Finally, adequate data has not been offered to support some of the claims made.
