The young boy is looking at his father with a look of admiration and love. Te father is on the telephone but has a pleased expression on his face. I is clear that he is full of love for his son. Te costumes that both father and son are wearing may be classified as smart casual to business-like. Crtainly the boy is clad in a full sleeved shirt with cuffs turned out and a waistcoat. H has on a pair of full length trousers. Hs hair too is combed well.

H is slightly hunched towards his father as if listening to his every word. Te father is seated in a chair, dessed impeccably in a dark suit and white shirt while his left hand exposes his ring and his watch which is a Patek Philippe. Te table also has the normal paraphernalia connected with a businessman- an open notepad, afountain pen, wth the corner of a keyboard and a wireless mouse also in view. Te curtains have been opened to let in some light. I a connotative an advertisement, w endeavor to find out what is the story being told.

I is said that a picture is a thousand words, bt that the meaning has to be deciphered by the onlooker. Tat is why artists are often asked to give the meanings and inspirations behind their own paintings, fom their own perspectives. I is clear that the picture gives the impression of a successful businessman, paced at his desk and conducting business on the telephone. A the same time he is smiling at his young wo there just within arm’s reach.

Te son’s admiration for the father and the father’s love for the son are evident from their facial expressions. Te way they are dressed and the father’s accessories and suiting bear all the hallmarks of a successful businessman. Te son too is smartly dressed in waistcoat, fll sleeved shirt and trousers and it is clear that the father wants him to stand for something and make an impression on whoever would see him. Tis attitude of gentility is being passed on from to son.

are also directed to the message of the advertisement, wich states that ‘you never actually own a Patek Philippe, yu merely take care of it for the next generation’. Tus the connection between the generation of father and son is shown to be related to the message of the advertisement. Tey are sharing their experiences and traditions, ad by passing on the Patek Philippe watch to his son one day, ...
