Churchill, the Political war Leader. One of the most significant contributions made by Churchill towards the achievement of his foreign policy successes was how he regularly communicated with the British nationals and the Allied troops through broadcasts (Gilbert, 1982). Everyone knew him to be an excellent orator and he held onto this competency to his success. His orating skills can also be considered a very essential factor towards his success (Pelling, 1974).
Churchill also had strong bargaining skills. And these skills were not limited only to day to day transactions; he took them to his foreign policy forefront. When the leaders of the Allied forces met in October 1944 to discuss who should have control over the European territory after the war, Churchill’

s recommendations were given a key ear and he ended up getting everything done the way he wanted it to be ((Keller, 1984) and (Weidhorn, 1979)). This was also considered one of his many foreign policy successes.
The leadership and motivations showed by Churchill way before the world war actually started gave a lot of internal power to the British nationals. Had this level of leadership and visionary not been shown by him, the UK would have lost out to the Nazis earlier on when the battle of Britain took place. ((Keegan, 2002) and (Ramsden, 2009)).
There is one thing about Churchill that historians will always remember. He was one person who knew when to take sides with a party and when to come out in the open and speak out. This can clearly be seen from the fact that during the World War, UK badly needed the support of the Soviet Union and even though Churchill personally didn’t like being with the Soviets, he went on making them an ally for the benefit of the country (D’ Este, 2008). However, later in 1946 when he visited the US to see President Harry Truman, in his famous speech on “Iron Curtain” he spoke out openly and fierce fully about the imminent cold war with the Russians (Lukacs, 1990).
