The artwork can be expressed as daring, controversial, thought-provoking and unique. It is daring because no one could ever imagine an artist emerging the crucifix in urine. In addition, it is controversial because it generates various reactions from across all religions. Furthermore, it is thought-provoking since one wonders what provoked the artist to come up with the artwork. Lastly, it is unique in view of the fact that no other image of Christ has a combination of urine.The metaphor of the piece of work is the crucifix as a symbol of humility and perseverance of the flesh. It reminds an individual of the many sufferings that the son of man underwent in mission to save mankind. Yes, it has human qualities in the presentation of Christ on the cross, where he seems to be overtaken by sadness (Carroll 81).Piss Christ by Andres Serrano is a controversial piece of work. It can be interpreted to show what Christians do to Christ when they do not live according to their faith. The yellow color signifies dignity and loyalty that is accorded to Jesus. On the other hand, the use of urine signifies the stripping of that dignity instead of treating him with nobility. The red color symbolizes the love that Christ had to die on the cross for men.The objective of the artist was to show the freedom of expression. He tried to bring out the fact that the crucifix was just a representation and not a holy object.
