Application of the Scientific Method. Water from the same source should be put in two different buckets. The powder detergent could be dissolved in one bucket and the liquid detergent in the other. The two dirty pieces of cloth should be soaked into the two buckets for the same amount of time. The amount of dirt removed from the pieces of cloth by soaking should be compared. The pieces of cloth could then be hand washed in the detergent and the amount of time and effort taken to clean each noted.Once the pieces of cloth are washed, the hypothesis’ validity can be evaluated. If the one washed in liquid detergent got clean faster when soaked, and hand washed; then the hypothesis can be said to be true. The success in the experiment will depend on the attainment of results in terms of comparison between the two detergents and the cleaning efficiency.

Using the water from the same source to soak the two pieces of cloth will ensure that the two detergents are tested on a fair ground for both will have the same kind of water to dissolve in. The use of one piece of cloth cut into two for cleaning with the two detergents would ensure that the same type of material is used in the experiment. Furthermore, even distribution of dirt and stains from the same sources would make the detergents work on the same type of dirt to give reliable results. Each detergent will have a task equal to the other.Depending on the results of the test carried out on the detergents, conclusions might be reached at or adjustments on the hypothesis might be necessary (Mayer, 1941). If the results prove that the hypothesis is true, repeat experiments will be carried out to obtain several results, and a general observation derived from their average. In case the hypothesis is proven wrong, it would be discarded, and a new one formulated (Mak, 2009). The new hypothesis would be the reverse of the first one and tests carried out in a similar fashion as before to come up with results that would prove the validity of this hypothesis. At the end of it all, the theory would be formulated on the best detergent in terms of its cleaning efficiency.Employing the scientific method to establish the most efficient detergent involves solving a problem of efficiency in detergents and can be used in advising users of detergents on which detergent to rely on. Correct experimental results will correctly guide these users while wrong results will misinform them. With the many problems. Application of the Scientific Method.
