The procedure of analyzing data was done through a statistical software package SPSS version 12.0 (SPSS Inc. , Chicago, IL). The variable of inter-observer reliability had been analyzed through the Kappa statistic. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and normality plots were used to check the normal distribution of continuous variables. On the other hand, ordinal variables and not normally distributed continuous variables were checked using the Mann-Whitney U test. Dichotomous variables were checked using the Chi-square and the Fisher's Exact tests. As a means to calculate the variance in the increasing risk of heel pressure development spanning grades 2 to 4, a Cox regression analysis was performed.
Data were calculated between the two groups. Lastly, a Kaplan-Meier survival analysis method was used to analyze the time it took to develop heel pressure ulcers in relation to the preventive strategy applied by the researchers. The value of p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant in all the statistical test employed by the researcher (Heyneman, et. al, 2009). The researchers were able to analyze all the necessary data by using standardized tests. The data analysis was carried out appropriately in line with the study's research design. There were no ethical issues concerning the study "Effectiveness of Two Cushions in the Prevention of Heel Pressure Ulcers".
The research has been approved by the ethics committee of the University Hospital prior to its implementation. In addition, approval from the participating hospitals and nursing homes were also acquired. The patients who participated in the study have provided the researchers with written informed consent before the research initiated. In cases wherein patients were not capable of providing the consent themselves, a relative of the patient was the asked (Heyneman, et.
al, 2009). The utilization of two cushions in managing heel pressure ulcer presented the variance between the effectiveness of the tools observed. The collective incidence of heel pressure ulcers presented 10.2% in the pillow group and 1.9% in the wedge-shaped cushion group.
