Sovereign is considered to act independently as a different body on its own. There is no official commitment to bind sovereign to work on the favor of the citizens. Sovereign has to work according to the citizens because its existence depends on the citizens. This makes sovereign to favor citizen and work according to their favor since it depends on citizens. Rousseau’s view can be further explained in terms of human body. Human body works in a way that it favors all the parts. The hand helps the leg and the leg works to favor the whole body.

The body will try not to let the leg or hand gets hurt. The sovereignty worked this same way. Citizens are like the part of the body and sovereign the body. The citizens act in accordance to the sovereign and the sovereign acts on the favor of the citizens. Just as the body do not have official commitment on favoring its parts so does sovereign. Small robots can be used to make up big robots which work in favor of all of them so does social contract works on favor of all citizens.

Just like body parts are forced to act accordance to the body so should the greedy citizens be forced to act accordance to the sovereign. The argument is quite valid because when people come together to have condition same for all the members, they work towards making it even better. Citizens in this case have mutual benefits. They all benefits the same way from the sovereign hence they all work on improving their benefits. There are no clear rules that govern the sovereign but they still work on the favor of the citizens.

This because from the premises we get that, citizens are part of the sovereign. Sovereign is unique on its own way just like the human body is unique and different from body parts. If there is a social contract the laws governing each individual cant govern the sovereign. For sovereign to be effective to the citizens, citizens should be treated equally. People are forced to be free, in that they stop following the individual law and start abiding to the civil law.

This made Rousseau to be blamed for the French revolution. The conclusion on forced freedom always confuses people and this is a major challenge to this argument. In conclusion therefore, this argument of Rousseau is valid. People will strive to improve their conditions provided they are under same conditions, no one above the other. This does not give room for the oppressors. The bases of this argument
