Populism Populism is a political philosophy or an ideology which compare people against the elites and urges the political and social political systems. It is the rhetorical style that is employed by political members in various social and political movements. Actually, this is a mobilization form that is devoid of its theoretical aspects. Furthermore, populism can be defined as political activities and ideas which represent the ordinary in normal manner. Therefore, it is a political discourse which appeals to the wishes and needs of the ordinary people. It can be referred to as a political discourse which appeals to the masses regardless of the political party or the class.

This is the real opposite of statism which asserts that a limited group of the professional politicians who are informed than the masses and are supposed to make decisions on their behalf. It is a stand where the leaders politically mobilize the masses without considering their political parties. In terms of style, populism has squarely taken all the stands and political forms to harmonize different groups of people. Populist use in U. S has included references like powerful trial lawyer lobbying, Hollywood elites and the liberal elites.

There is also populist popular rhetoric which includes occupancy of Wall Street Movement (Taggart 78). Populists are viewed as democratic individuals who enforce positive forces within the society. On the other hand some political scientists claim that populist movement is considered irrational which introduces instable political process in the country. These allege are not true as the modern populist movement is categorized into two main divisions. These are the political and the agrarian movements (Goodwyn 298).

It is believed that populist movement can be the drivers of fascist movements. This has led to the conspiracist scapegoat that is employed by popular movements which can create a fascism seedbed. It is also believed that the national socialist populism held a meeting which facilitated fascism in the Germany interwar. During this time it is also believed that the distressed middle class people in the populist movement during the Nazi regime mobilized their issues and their anger was directed to the big business and the government. Furthermore, the Nazis took the forms and themes of the populism movement and parasitized it.

The Nazis later moved their constituencies to the right in the ideological appeals which involved scapegoat, conspiracy and demagogue.
