Watsons is medium size manufacturing company. It employs person technical and non-technical. Watsons was performing quite well but due to increase in competitiveness in markets, it is also under pressure. In light of case study following matters are identified as potential concerns in the way of progress of Watsons. Although the workforce is regarded as loyal and committed by the senior managers, who have no complaints about the hard work that everyone puts in. But in spite of that there are certain problems identified by the HR managers. As the main concerns have been identified.

Now they require planning of a Business strategy to overcome these hindrances that are standing in the way of smooth sailing of Watsons. This strategy would be chalked out in the light of recognized theories and models discussed by senior scholars of the HRM. -Most of the scholars are of view that the dominance of senior managers without formal training ruled over their empire without any training and sophisticated management skills. They were confounded by the challenges of the changes in market demand and production technology and escalating increases in corporate scale and scope. -Lewchuk suggests that the reliance upon piecework production systems meant that managers did not develop the coordination, planning, and leadership skills necessary to guide a large scale development. It is quite clear from above discussion that although senior management was quite sincere and hardworking but they did not have any proper training.

They are the people who have came to these positions just because of their seniority. They were very unsophisticated in their approach to HR matters. There was no check and balance in terms of HRM.

Watson trusted his people very much and he was himself unaware of modern techniques of HRM. The problem areas identified by the HRM consultants were very clear but nobody in Watsons was capable of identifying them previously so they were quite helpless for tackling them. It is need of the hour that Mr. Watson should reorganize the whole system of his company in association with properly qualified and trained HR managers. Following Business strategy and HRM strategy could be helpful for Watsons. A board of directors should be made to discuss the problems openly and HRM people should have representation in the board.
