It is essential to make it clear that the success of any IT project depends hugely on ensuring that there is a well-organized continuity in its development process. This is to ensure that no other aspects of the system development are ignored. It is also important in reducing any possibility of the targeted solution being surpassed by new technology. Additionally and most importantly, this is crucial in ascertaining that the final product is achieved within the set-out period. This situation is also a key challenge to the implementation of the ITIL within an organization.

That is, in some circumstances the ITIL implementation becomes challenging to execute mainly because there is laxity in its execution (Hiner 2013, 1). In other words, the lack of momentum in its implementation usually has great impact on the possibility of making it a success. This is because a lack of momentum can lead to change in the organization’ s business operations, objectives or even the business operations. Consequently, the ITIL solution can end up obsolete to the company requirements thus making its implementation a subject of no significant importance (Okanlwaon 2010, 1).   One of the top reasons for this failure is usually a result of poor planning.

That is a failure to create a proper ITIL implementation plan by the IT team results in the loss of momentum. Another reason is the lack of commitment by the respective stakeholders of the ITIL implementation process. These can include the organization managers, IT heads and other business stakeholders. For those reasons, it becomes challenging to have an effective platform for the implementation of the ITIL (Mar 2013, 1). Procrastination One of the most common challenges in the development of an IT project is the subject of procrastination.

In fact, it is not only in the IT projects but also in most of the daily activities of most human beings. In simple terms, procrastination refers to the act of putting off the process of doing a particular thing until a future time. In most cases, this results in late submission of the final product or even submitting a final product that contains incomplete functionalities.
